Dear Park Families,

Many many thanks to all of our volunteers who helped make the Variety Show such a wonderful production.  I am repeatedly amazed at the volunteer commitment at Park - thank you!  Congrats to all of our performers as well - it takes courage to get up there and do your thing.

Please see below for the latest and greatest from MVSD and Park and have a wonderful weekend - enjoy the weather!

Our big district-wide event is coming up next week!  Spring Village Fest is on Wednesday, March 11 (5–7pm, quiet hour 4–5pm)! Hosted by the Mill Valley PTA DEI and It Takes a Village (it's their 20 year anniversary!!), this is a free evening for families to come together, enjoy crafts, games, music, therapy dogs, the bubble lady, pizza (FREE slices for kids!), FREE cupcakes and more - while learning about neurodiversity and disabilities. This is the second big DEI event of the year, and promises to be both meaningful and fun. You can RSVP Here and consider Volunteering Here. Hope to see you there!

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Enrollment Update

Thank you to all families who submitted their TK enrollment applications. If you completed your enrollment before January 30, 2026, you should have received an acknowledgment email confirming receipt of your application.

Families who met this deadline will receive notification of their child’s school placement in May. We will continue to accept enrollment applications; however, notification of school placement will not be available in May for applications submitted after the deadline. All eligible students will be placed in one of our schools.

We look forward to welcoming our newest learners!

Parent Education Opportunities (from the Marin County Office of Education) - Next Week!

We are delighted to share that, by popular demand, renowned psychologist and bestselling author Dr. Madeline Levine, Ph.D. will be returning to Marin County for two powerful and timely evening sessions focused on supporting adolescents’ mental health and emotional well-being.

Hosted by the Marin County Office of Education, these free virtual events are open to parents, caregivers, educators, and school staff throughout our community. Each evening includes a live Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with Dr. Levine.

Attention 4th and 5th Grade Parents!

All 4th and 5th grade MVSD parents are invited to a special evening of connecting and community. We’ll learn why parenting tech gets trickier with tweens, what challenges are ahead of us in middle school, and how a group of last year’s 5th grade parents used collective action to get ahead of it all!

Superintendent Report - March 6, 2026

Board Budget Study Session
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the Board will hold a Budget Workshop in the Middle School Library. The agenda for the meeting is attached. During the workshop, the Board will review the district’s current financial status and discuss the assumptions that will guide the development and adoption of the 2026–2027 budget, as well as the district’s multi-year financial projections.

Members of the Budget Advisory Committee, MVTA, CSEA, Kiddo!, PTA, and the Parcel Tax Committee have been invited to participate in table discussions with Trustees during the workshop. Audience members will also have an opportunity to provide feedback using note cards.

In April, Assistant Superintendent Paula Rigney and I will visit campuses again to provide parents with updates and an opportunity to ask questions.

Spring Village Fest
I would also like to highlight the Spring Village Fest, sponsored by our PTE DEI Committee, on March 11 from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Mill Valley Community Center. In recognition of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, this gathering is designed to provide families with a welcoming space to learn more about neurodiversity and disabilities while connecting with community organizations and local resources.

To help ensure the event is accessible and comfortable for all, a Quiet Hour will be held from 4:00–5:00 p.m., featuring limited amplified sound and a smaller, more relaxed environment. Activities throughout the evening will include therapy dogs, arts and crafts, sensory exploration opportunities, outdoor games, music and movement, and informational tables. More information can be found here (add link).

The event will also recognize the 20th anniversary of It Takes a Village (ITAV), Mill Valley’s special education PTA. Janet Miller, founder of It Takes a Village and former MVSD School Board Trustee, will join the community in marking this meaningful milestone.

Opportunities such as this reflect our community’s ongoing commitment to awareness, inclusion, and fostering a strong sense of belonging for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
